Wales Runners: Your (not) parkrun Mission


RUNNERS IN WALES....it's time to join forces!


Your Mission should you choose to accept it:


Get as many Welsh (not) parkruns in the top 10 attendance list for the the week 8th-14th Feb.



How it'll work: Anytime during the week 8th - 14th Feb, you'll need to complete 5km, you can run or walk it and then log it on the parkrun website as a (not) parkrun. You can do this any route, anytime during the week. You don't have to (and I strongly recommend against) doing it at your nearest parkrun and certainly not at 9am on a Saturday! You can also do it multiple times in the week (up to 7 times as can log 1 a day).


You can log it anytime during the week (8th - 14th Feb) but I recommend you log it as soon after the run as possible!


You'll need to make sure your Home parkrun is a Welsh parkrun, see below how to do this.


It doesn't matter how fast or slow you do it! As long as you log it!


Elliot Line published stats every week at http://www.elliottline.com/parkrun so we'll be able to see how many we get into the top 10. Here is an example from a few weeks ago.


Maybe we can even beat actual in person parkrun attendance records at some!


Why?

There's a few reason why,:

  • Mainly for fun - let's see if we can come together as a welsh running community what we can achieve!

  • It’ll give that your run(s) more purpose, you'll be part of something bigger than simply going for a run.

  • It’ll also give you an excuse to get out there! Your solo run will be contributing to something!

  • Inspiration - It may inspire those that have neglected running due to lockdown to get back out there! It may even someone new to sign up to parkrun.

  • Competition - It’s WALES versus the world... well again the rest of the UK! Lets show some patriotism and show how proud we are to be Welsh (or to be in Wales!)

  • International ‘Honours’ - You may have had ambitions to represent Wales at Rugby or another sports....well now you can! #cymruambyth



What are (not)parkruns?

In the absence of parkrun events (not)parkrun is an opportunity for parkrunners to submit a 5k walk, jog, or run or 2k for junior parkrunners, on a route of your choosing, on a day and time of your choice, wherever you are in the world and following appropriate guidelines for physical activity wherever you’re based. You can record up to one activity per day, with your fastest time each week included in a weekly results table.

How to register for parkrun?

Simply visit https://www.parkrun.org.uk and click register.


How to check/change where your Home parkrun is?

You can check where your home parkrun is in two places on the website and you can change it in one.


To check, logon at www.parkrun.com/signin/

Then either go to Update, which is arrow A or (not)parkrun which is arrow B


A: Update will allow you to change your Home parkrun

B: (not)parkrun will just show you which your Home parkrun is
